Backup -Resotration -Download

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

The ability to store our own backups of the worlds locally is important. After all, what would happen in the event of a problem of the server, say for instance ransomware attack? Cloud storage can be helpful, but it never hurts to have an additional local backup of your own world.   I should point out that getting a local backup from World Anvil is technically already an existing option. My only concern is the constraint that the backup is exported to only one single email client: Gmail. Say what you want about Google Drive, but I am not too fond of its service. There are other, often better email clients out there with better file management integrated. So the proposal is simply to allow the local backups to be exported through other email clients, such as Outlook or Protonmail, and not constrained only to Google. It's as simple as that.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

Instead of being locked into using Google Drive to be the target of a local export attempt, other email services should be unlocked as well. Anyone who uses other email addresses can therefore access this much easier.

What are other uses for this feature request?

I know that a direct download may also be an alternative, but I am uncertain whether that is a good idea when concerning personal file security through the reliance of a browser rather than an email storage system. I suppose that would be up to the admins...

The Team's Response

I am really sorry but World Anvil is not a cloud storage system. We provide you with the backups you can use of a variety of services to store said data.
  • Google Drive
  • iCloud
  • Are mostly for free and there are many others.
