The current access control mechanism is already quite powerful; it allows an otherwise-private article to be made accessible to groups of WorldAnvil users.
I'd also like to propose a feature where a link can be generated for an article by a world's owner for the purpose of sharing. Anyone given the link would be able to view the article, whether or not they were logged into WorldAnvil. (To keep it simple, they would not be able to click on links to other articles, view secrets, or expand images.)
For simplicity, an article's share link would expire a predetermined time after being generated (e.g. 7 days), or if manually revoked. (If this idea were taken up it could be expanded to allow the user to set a expiry time for a link.) Also for simplicity, an article would only have one share link generated for it at a time; the link would need to expire or be revoked before another could be generated.
Use case: simple, easy ad-hoc sharing of specific articles in an otherwise-private world with friends or small communities, especially in cases where the sharing is meant to be ephemeral and keeping the article's contents 'secure' is not as much of a concern.
Analogous feature for comparison's sake: Google Drive (and probably other cloud file services) have something similar to what I'm proposing. You can either share a file with specific users (i.e. the system we have right now), or you can generate a link to the file that anyone who has the link can access.
