Not sure if this is already in line for an upgrade or not, but it's causing me tons of stress lately, therefore I decided to open suggestion. Basically the current date display format is very hard to read, especially when dealing with billions of years in case of Sci-Fi settings.
Small customization could fix it and make it more clear to read. Adding dots to these numbers would make it easier and faster for the eye and brain to decipher.
So instead of displaying it like that:
-19891210000 BD
Im suggesting this:
-19.891.210.000 BD
I think it's very easy to add and it will improve drastically timelines and their clarity. Because the way it is now, me with my ADHD brain I actually have to take time to count each one of these numbers separately, which always slows my work down to the point, that I'm considering switching to using paper instead... But when they are displayed the way I suggested, it's almost as if I automatically know what date it is, just by looking at it. I feel it's just easier to decipher it subconsciously that way.
Follow up
TrudyG - Sure, that will do too.
Willow H.R. Harper - Whatever option is more suitable for the majority I'm in favour of it, as long as we can agree to change it from what it is now :)
hwcarver - I'm from Poland we use periods, therefore I suggested that, but I'm more than happy to agree to whatever suits the majority, as long as we can agree on something lol
Imper1um - I think there is a bigger project for timelines. But before it will be implemented, it would be nice to see at least this one little change that I suggested here.
The Team's Response
Thanks for your suggestion! A future update that will improve how World Anvil deals with time will address this, although not necessarily in the way you suggested here.
