URL search bar reader convertion image-library library image picture art artwork

It seems as though it's a bit difficult to plop down reference images for your world, be it for races, creatures, notable figures or even cities.

By taking a page out of Dungeon Master's Vault, perhaps adding a feature that allows you to paste a companion image to any given article - or better yet, multiple URL readers that place a library of the images at the bottom (similarly to a wiki) with a fully separate URL insertion bar for the header image - could make articles far easier to flesh out? It's a small feature, but I've found it's a MASSIVE convenience in the DMV.

Perhaps you could also add in Youtube and other video platform compatibility for the header image, letting an explanatory video reside at the top of the page instead of an image? I believe that could be an enormous boon for content creators!

The Team's Response

This suggestion has not reached the required number of votes.   As a comment, I am not really sure what you mean by it's not easy. Lethann gives a good rundown but the blue button under the + menu allows you to upload anything you need from anywhere and then it is just a matter of pasting the image where you want.   In terms of youtube on the COVER, this part, this is a completely different suggestion. and you if you really want it, it will need its own suggestion.

As Lethann said

Not really sure what the OP is asking for here. You can use the image bbcode to add these images quick and easy. Each image already has the link you can copy right off the main Images & Files page. Dimi already has said he's going to put in image search support in the preview overlay (click blue button, most left option) to make it even easier to get the bbcode for images while writing an article. Off-site linking of images has been brought up many times and is shot down for many reasons, one of which is security and another is copyright. There's currently another suggestion with this and I imagine it will be addressed there as well. To add images to the bottom of an article, simply put those images in a 'gallery' and in the "design" tab of the article you can link that gallery to that page easy peasy. Adding youtube and other things are also simply BBCode commands open to everyone. Use use the youtube:url bbecode and boom, it's there. It also has Spotify, libsyn, bandcamp, podbean, soundcloud, kuula, sketchfab, anchorfm support. It won't be the 'header/banner' but works just as well. https://www.worldanvil.com/w/WorldAnvilCodex/a/bbcode#embedding I'd have posted this in the reddit but the link to the discussion is giving me a 404

I agree with this suggestion on the terms of 'making things simpler' - A Frightened Bananafolk commented that copying and pasting currently works in articles, but at least for me? No it doesn't. Tried both right-click pasting and control+v and no dice. I'm sure there are means of doing it that I mean to check out myself when it really becomes necessary, but enabling these simple, intuitive copy-pasting method would be nice. Or making it more obvious how to enable such a thing if it's a toggle of some sort.

It's already possible to link an image gallery to an article, and you can paste insert anywhere you want in an article, so I'm not sure how a "companion image" would be a different thing.
