The Kingdom of Aureus

Structure

Aureus is led by the royal family, The House of Selwyn. The royal family is guided by a council of ten advisors. The position is hereditary like the monarchy. If someone in the council of advisors dies without an heir, the position is put to a vote by the people. In addition, if the people are unhappy with the performance of one of the advisors, they can put in a petition to take out the current official and vote in a new one.

Culture

Aureus is an overall pleasant place to live. The main commodity is horses so there are many large farms that specialize in breeding and this is very important to the culture. The country has freedom of religion, not officially recognizing any one at this time. It bears a lot of similarities with regency era England, especially among the higher classes.

Public Agenda

The public agenda of the kingdom is to provide a safe, happy place for people to live.

Assets

Horses:

Caballian - large, strong draft horses. good for farm work. Mainly browns and greys.
Ordena - The most common breed. inexpensive. Good for riding and general cart work. Any coat color.
Aereusian - Smaller, slim, gentle, and reliable. Typically preferred as a ladies horse or for new riders. Mostly white or grey.
Ryder - Doesn't shy easily, firm steady horses. Preferred breed for war and hunting. Considered "manly". Coloring, light reddish brown to light reddish gold.
Celerian - The most difficult breed. Very loyal to one maybe two people who train them. They must be treated well and they are finicky around those they have not bonded to. Fastest of the breeds. Intensely loyal and protective. Deep reddish brown to very dark brown almost black.

Legislative Body

The Royal Family paired with the Council of Advisors and the Council of Law. The Council of Law consists of fifteen people who have had training in law and politics. They can come from any class level as long as they achieve the necessary education. The position is nominated by the people and elected by the council of advisors. It is held for fifteen years (or upon the death of the official).

Judicial Body

The Royal Family paired with three Judges with the aid of the Council of Advisors. The three Judges are nominated by the people and elected by the council of advisors. They must have training in law and politics and spend time living within a position different then the one they were born into (example: a child of a wealthy business man would live with a lower class blacksmith in a short apprenticeship like arrangement) The position is held for life. The Council of Law may assist in particularly difficult situations.
