Elf

Both the people and the civilizations of the Elves are long-lived, having developed magic long before humans or goblinoids, and this gives even their young adults a wisdom far beyond their maturity. They possess some connection to the fey, but it is unknown how this came to be. Elves are common in Bilorr, and their experience means that many nobles are elves even in the lands of other races there.   Elves coexist well with most other humanoids, but many believe they are more patient, thoughtful, and intelligent than the younger humanoid races. Because of this, others often think of elves as ethnocentric, but they simply value experience, often more than a human can possibly attain in their life.   High elves, named for their origin in the hills, rule the nation of Falari but exist throughout the continent, and many wood elves live in the mighty Matalas Forest. Amphibious sea elves hail from the Thusen Archipelago but inhabit the Bilorran and Draconics seas as well. Eladrin are altered by Feywild magic much like the planetouched, with shadow elves similar, but hailing from the Shadowfell. The drow of Zaniq were the last slaves of the illithids to free themselves and have built many underground cities. Drow of the Underdark are proud warriors and musicians.

Basic Information

Growth Rate & Stages

The elves of Zosoa mature physically at around the age of thirty, but are usually not viewed as proper adults until a certain age, usually between sixty and one hundred depending on the culture. Some elves consider themselves adults when their children reach maturity.

Ecology and Habitats

Most elves live in temperate or subtropical climates, and there are some amphibious elves who are just as comfortable in water as on land. High elves originate in the uplands, and wood elves the forests, though each have found their way to different environments.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

Elves have pointed ears, and different eye and hair colors depending on their subrace. Drow have white hair and red or light blue eyes. High elves have human hair colors, though some have blue hair, and black or violet eyes. Sea elves have eyes of almost any color, and shadow elves have shining white eyes. Wood elves have dark hair and green, brown, or hazel eyes.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Mainly Bilorr, but elves can be found in northern Duray and northwestern Kivosia as well. The exception is the drow, who dwell in the Underdark of Zaniq and are occassionally found on the surface in Vilush and Xuta.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Limited night vision.

Civilization and Culture

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Elves speak several languages, but most are of the same language family.

History

Elves are thought to be the first humanoids since the ancient and cataclysmic Years of Freezing and Flooding to create a civilization of their own. This was long enough ago that even most elves know little about this old kingdom, which they call Alfan.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Elves coexist well with humans, but many believe they are wiser, more patient, and more thoughtful and intelligent than the younger humans. Because of this, humans often think of elves as ethnocentric, but they simply value experience, often more than a human can possibly attain in their life.   Elves tend to have a poor opinion of hobgoblins, and goblinoids in general, though this isn't always the case.   The wood elves of Matalas consider themselves friends of the forest-dwelling firbolgs, and sea elves of the Thusen Archipelago have a similar relationship with minotaurs there.
Lifespan
500-700
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Depends on subrace. Wood elves usually have skin the color of tree bark, while high elf skin tones tend to match those of humans in the regions they live in. Drow have very pale, nearly white skin due to living underground, and sea elves come in green, blue, and purple most of the time.   Shadow elves affected by the Shadowfell have grey or black skin. Eladrin, on the other hand, have different skin colors based on their current season.
