Dragonborn
Dragonborn are named for their similarity in appearance to dragons, but are not their children. They are the most favored of humanoids by dragons, making up a large part of Uburac and Ostela's populations. Originally, dragonborn were carnivorous reptilian humanoids of Zaniq, most of them nomads before the Draconic conquests (though this lifestyle remains common for dragonborn today). The origin of the draconic ancestries possessed by the dragonborn was a vow of loyalty by ten of their monarchs to ten dragon rulers, a magical pact that gave a fraction of draconic power to their subjects.
But not all dragonborn serve dragons, and many want to be out of the shadow of their larger cousins. The dragonborn not ruled by dragons have spread throughout Zaniq (and some parts of Kivosia and Bilorr) in multiple culturally distinct clans. In east Zaniq, there is a dragonborn kingdom, Dulong, which was conquered by the Bazun Empire but has now seceded.
