Flying Kingdom

Purpose / Function

Castle - home to the royal family in Zoedar. Originally built by a holding lord as a fortress.

Alterations

Underground passages and dorms - because the Flying Kingdom is built on a spire of stone it cannot expand very far outward. Instead it has expanded downwards. There are dorms for the squires and staff, storage for food, weapons, armor, and other supplies, and a suite specially designed for the king's advisor. There is also an emergency escape tunnel.

Architecture

The castle was built of stone, the same stone that was mined to create the tunnels and dorms. Wood was brought up the Spiral Pass. There is a wall around the upper perimeter of the spire and a single large gate where the Spiral Pass meets the top. The gate opens into a closed courtyard where traffic is then sent through the supply gate, or to the stables, depending on who has arrived and why. Outside the castle there is a large area dedicated to the training of squires. There is also a small wooded area with a lake, which is home to the Fairy Ambassador.
