Shadow Manipulation
His power manifests itself into a being that is essentially a living shadow, which Cody aptly named Shadow because he was not a very creative child. He calls Shadow a "she" despite having no gender, and can control her through willpower (essentially doesn't need to speak to command her as if she was just an extension of himself). His power thrives in the dark and he can actually see perfectly fine in complete darkness as he can use his power to "see" things. Shadow uses the shadows around them and can manipulate them, able to attack with the shadows, such as making spikes jut out and to stab at opponents. They have physical form, but can change properties to be either solid or more liquid like, able to freely change as needed. His common go-to moves are spikes, tendrils, and a shield around himself. However, Shadow is weakened by light that erases the shadows around them. In the lab, he was kept in a very brightly lit room that kept him from freely using his powers. As such, Cody doesn't go outside much during the day and prefers to stay inside a dark room.

Personal history
Cody was orphaned when he was only a couple years old. He lived at an orphanage for a few years until he was adopted at around the age of five. Except that he wasn't adopted by a loving family, but by a person from a research group looking for children that no one would check up on later because they planned to experiment on the children. The researchers main focus was to test and gather results about many different kinds of powers. They did many cruel experiments to the children, and would break their will so they wouldn't fight back. Cody quickly became terrified of them and would never go against anything they said. He soon made a friend with another boy named Kesa who still had some fight in him, but the researchers threatened to harm Cody in order to get Kesa to stop fighting back.
This went on for some years until they were about twelve years old, and the research lab was found by law enforcement and raided to save the children. However, Cody was one child that the fleeing researchers took with them. They also destroyed anything they left behind to erase their tracks and make it difficult to find them. Cody was knocked out to keep him silent as they fled, and when he woke later he found himself in a bedroom. A man known as V who had been funding the research had decided that he would keep Cody for himself. At first, V seemed kind to Cody since he provided Cody with his own room, gave him new clothes, and fed him. Cody soon learned that he was only kind as long as you didn't anger him, and when he was angry he was very scary. So Cody did his best to please V and do all that V asked of him, one of which was the training that Cody started to receive shortly after coming to live with V. Cody was taught how to fight, stealth tactics, and the use of various technologies.
When Cody was around 14, V also started to do grooming sexual assault to Cody, which of course Cody wouldn't resist against because he was scared of making V angry. When Cody was 16, he was introduced to a small specialized team that worked for V, and was told that he would be joining them. The team members went by nicknames; Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, and Epsilon. They performed secret missions for V that involved things such as sabotaging V's rivals in business.
Cody had never left V's home before this, and now that he was going out with this team, Kesa who was searching for him with Kieran, Lucien, and the rest of the Shinetogumi, were able to gain some clues. One night when Cody was with the team to hit a warehouse, Kieran, Sasaki, and some others (tbd) caught them in the act. Alpha, who hated Cody for taking his place as V's favorite, used this as a chance to do away with Cody and left him behind to be captured.
