Personal history
Benimaru's parents divorced when he was little. He was often left with his grandpa during this time because his parents didn't want to have to watch him during all this. His mother was the one who got custody of him, but he was still with his grandpa a lot at the beginning. Benimaru's favorite thing to do was to play make-believe as if he was in a fantasy world with his grandpa. When he finally came to live with his mother, she had a new husband and he now had step-siblings. He never fit in with him, but it never seemed to bother him as he went about living in his fantasy world. He would also still spend a lot of time with his grandpa, who would indulge him with his fantasy world.
Benimaru was called a "chuunibyou" by his peers in school, because he would always talk as if he was living in his fantasy world. He never really had any friends, and was usually shunned by his peers. It wasn't until high school when he met Yuki that Benimaru gained some good friends. Yuki went along with Benimaru's fantasies, unbothered by it, and Benimaru quickly became friends with him. Slowly but surely, he then also became friends with Kyo, Adrien, and Natsuki.
