Session 8: An Unexpected Reunion, a Kindly Old Woman, and a Sea Chart Recovered

General Summary

• Made it to the Old Hag's Cabin

• Found Blu's sister, Vendra, caught in a trap

• Learned Vendra was an apprentice wizard home on holiday looking to get a magic charm from the Hag

• Blu wasn't sure he wanted to let her come, so he asked her to prove her magical ability, which she did by casting Mirror Image

• They stumbled across some awakened shrubs, dispatched a couple and then Bud (with help from his pet rock) stuck the remaining two in the trap Vendra was previously trapped in

• Meeting the Hag, they haggled and Bud traded his Clockwork Amulet and the Charlatan's die for the Sea Chart

• Vendra also traded 3 luck points for a slug that lets her use Counterspell once, which she wasted when Blu attacked the Hag out of the...blu(e)

• Bud grappled and dragged Blu out of cabin, apologizing to the Hag

• Rath threatened the Hag, promising vengeance if their deal brought them misfortune, and then they left

• Rath then chastised Blu for his rash behaviour and they considered having a code word for when such a thing might happen in the future

• They went back to camp where Yngis, Lars, and a delicious dinner were waiting for them. They decided to leave in the morning

• While Bud was on watch in the middle of the night, a shambling mound attacked and was defeated

• Returning home the next day, Blu told Vendra to return home and stay with the family until the ship was ready to leave for the mainland

• Rath and Blu tried to extort Captain Phineas for the Sea Chart they promised to return to him, but Bud dispersed the tension by giving the Captain the 50 gp that was promised. Phineas confirmed that Vendra's passage back to the mainland was already paid for by the Academy

• Bud then went to Effi's Essentials, the general store in Seyda, to pick up a metal shield (it is round, steel grey, and has a spike in the middle)

• The ship is set to leave in the morning and the party went to go figure out their lodgings for the night
