Session 37: Waking Up to Another Dream, or Out of the Pan and into the Fire

General Summary

The cave-in was still fresh in their minds as they woke up. The Dragoons learned about the new shiny stone that was the key to getting to the Cave of Blasnir. They all placed their hand upon the crystal of recall and jumped into the Blazing Maw. The world begins to spin, blurring all the details around them. As the spinning slowed the details returned, the Dragoons beheld their surroundings. There was an entrance behind them and inside a large room. Rath looked out of the wall which was a false wall. He got vertigo from looking down the side of the massive tower, down into the ocean below. It was at this moment that the group realized they were wearing cold weather clothing. They quickly disrobed and modified their clothes to adjust to the incredibly warm environment. As they moved forward a steam vent blew superheated water vapor into the group. Stanwick dodged off to the side in time while the rest of the Dragoons began looking like boiled lobsters. Cries of pain hammered the lesson home that the team should be more aware of their environment. Natural occurring hazards littered the cave and survival may depend upon their caution and awareness.   They slowly crawled forward though the cave, always turning right, to navigate through the chamber. They found an opening in the wall, a massive archway. There were 5 keyholes of various shapes.   There was a ring holder on the wall on the side that had four keys There was some text to the side: “The spells on these locks are all the same. Though each possesses a unique name. Count on your answer to unlock the way, But use the wrong key to your dismay.”   After debating, Trent shoved his dragon diamond into the key with three teeth. It fit perfectly. After further discussion they realized that there are more than one language and in draconic the number of letters for the elements fit perfectly, except for Ether. There was still one key missing. After fumbling around blindly for the key, they found it lying around. It was invisible and became visible when it was touched. The Dragoons finished placing all five of the keys into the archway. The door rumbled and raised into the ceiling. A faint smell of sulfur rushed forth. The Dragoons gathered their stones and continued into the opening.   They found themselves in a long hallway. The walls became smooth, almost like glass. The tunnel opened to another room, where the only light was from the lava dripping down. As the party advanced into the new room, there were stalactites and stalagmites forming on the ceiling and floor from the flowing lava.   They went down a tunnel that was filled with smoke. Stanwick burned his hand a little just by touching the sides. As they emerged from the smoking cave they saw a glowing segment of the ground. These “hot rocks” released devastating heat around them, so the Dragoons were keen to avoid them.   They continued down the pathway until they found a hot rock they could not avoid. Gregg used his water wand to cool off the rock, making it safe enough to pass. After they came to a large, dark room that was only dimly lit by the surrounding lava. Just then a group of fiery lizards appeared and began to attack. Trent summoned monstrous cold, immediately killing two of them. When they fell, they disappeared similar to how the earth dragon cave enemies did just after the earthquake rent the mountain asunder.   After dispatching the fiery lizards, the warlock and Salamander the group went forward. They came upon a chest. Trent determined that he would be unable to open the chest, so Stanwick moved forward. He began picking the lock. His nimble fingers opened the large chest and found a little pouch inside. There were multicolored crystals inside. The Dragoons determined they were little firecrackers that made noise and emitted light when used. Further down the path there was another treasure box. Inside there was a transparent, purple gem and ~8000 gold.
