Session 22: Arcanum

General Summary

• Finished Cavern of Potential
• Met Admissions clerk (Clenton) and got Certificates
• Went off to the magical blacksmith and wandwright shop (Drenton and Jack’s Magical Armaments)
• Bud commissioned a Bulette Shield, Trent asked about healing wands/staves (he couldn’t afford a Staff of Healing), Rath bought a Quill of Endless Ink
• Went to the Magic Academy, met Mirabella at front desk
• Met Vaylin (Headmaster) and he asked if they would like to be students (they declined)
• Vaylin then said he has a special task in mind for them which he can discuss further in the morning (he was busy and had to squeeze in a meeting with the party before getting ready for the welcoming ceremony and banquet)
• The banquet was then served in the Great Hall, Vaylin gave a speech, the party talked with various students, Bud revived his broken Pet Rock, AKA Pebbles
• Bud and Trent went off to the dorms to sleep, Rath went to the library to learn more about the Fire Dragon (he gathered up a stack of books to read, getting some assistance from the Head Librarian, Tandee, who also can sell scrolls and similar items)
• Rath was rewarded with a Lore Dump, and learned some information that conflicts with the stories he read about his family and their connection to Blasnir. The library had more books than anyone could ever read, but Rath gathered as many as he could about the dragons and related stories, reading about some things he knew already and many things he did not
• Rath read about the Dragons, the Wyrm Lords and their legendary items, he read about The Great Exodus from the First World following the Great Battle between the forces of Darkness and Light, he learned about how Zillarrum was once a barren moon but Lumina terraformed most of it with her remaining strength (then fell into a deep slumber, as did the Dragons) with the rest being left a wasteland referred to as The Grey Wastes, he learned that it is believed that a great magical disturbance could be enough to revert the moon to its original state and remove all magic from it, he learned about the Dark Ones and the Cult of Abyssos, he read about how Abyssos is imprisoned in the Black Spire and Lumina sleeps in the White Spire (seemingly somewhere on Zillarrum and only Wyrm Lords or other Chosen individuals may enter), he also learned that on Azurra, the First World, there stands a Blue Spire where a young princess sleeps and will wake to defend that world, or welcome the people back to Azurra when it has healed, and he learned that scholars believe true mastery of magic comes from great effort/battle/adversity (i.e. experience points)
• After his research, Rath went to the dormitories and turned in for the night
• Trent was restless and went for a late night stroll and noticed that Eva (the girl from Northvale that became an acolyte at the Great Shrine) was visiting and playing music with Vaylin in the courtyard (Vaylin seems to enjoy hosting talented musicians and was impressed with Eva)
• The Dragoons sleep, looking forward to a grand breakfast in the morning
