Session 13: A Well-Deserved Rest, Magical Shops, and a Melee with the Governor

General Summary

After a spirited discussion, the group (sorta) decided to do shopping in the morning, try to see the governor for lunch, and then to the job board in the evening.   Walking around the town, the group saw numerous, awe-inspiring shops. Trent was drawn to the Gilded Anvil and wanted to find some armor and a shield, so he inquired within. Traubon Torunn, a dwarf, welcomed Trent and began the sacred covenant of buying and selling. Torberra also welcomed the group; she was a daughter to the shopkeeper. Then, after Blu picked up his wand, the group went to visit Crazy Aggbah's Discount Magic Item Emporium.   After bartering with the locals, the group decided to get: new armor for Trent, 4 Grab Bags, a wand for Blu, and 2 pieces of imbued wood for Bud Towers (costs 1,638g, 754.54g remaining).   Crazy Aggbah’s Grab Bag results: Boots of the Stalwart Servant (reaction: reduce movement by 5 ft if forced to move), Rusted Ring of Firebolt (Cast firebolt, cantrip, 1 charge per rest), (Slightly Cursed) Bracers of Stormy Might (when crit, do 1D4 lighnting damage and become deaf for 1d4 rounds), Amulet of Déjà vu (Bonus action: Gain advantage on next attack roll. Once per rest).   After our shenanigans, we went to the Mare, Mayor, Governor of the city. As we approached the Governor’s conference room, there was a steward, Ansas Verill, outside awaiting visitors. He told us we could go in to see the Governor. Upon entering the room, Governor Pellton Dunkirk (owing to Rath’s gift for anagrams, he has decided to also refer to him as ‘Drunken Kill Pot’) greeted us from beneath his shirt, which was 3 sizes too small.   Bud Towers, The Hero of Our Time, attempted but narrowly failed to dominate the Governor using his strength in a hearty hand-shake. Trent told the Governor, point blank, that we are Wyrm Lords and want to meet Blasnir. After brandishing his rock to no avail, Bud Towers transformed Earth Heart to a massive maul.   After revealing their true identities, the Governor stated that he had no knowledge about the dragon, but that he did want to test their strength. They went to a room to spar. He lunged at Bud Towers and shredded him with alacrity and precision. His attacks were wild, but well placed. His shirt seemed to shrink a little with each hit. After a massive strike from Rath (198 damage), the Governor was knocked off his feet. Grinning, he jumped up and back, shifting and growing bigger and more savage, with energy flowing from every orifice and unleashed his ultimate form, the Drunken Kill Pot. He then proceeded to skewer Trent into unconsciousness and then healed him so he would not die. With the fight over the warriors exchanged heroic handshakes, the likes of which only Austrian men could do so well.   (DM’s footnote: Impressed, Pellton brought his healers in to tend to the party’s wounds and then invited them to a feast where he told him that though he did not know of the dragon’s whereabouts, his old adventuring companion, Vaylin (who adventured with him and Zeke), would know. He encouraged the young adventurers to apply to the Magic Academy in Arcanum to learn more and discuss their quest with Vaylin, the Headmaster of the Academy.)
