Dirt trails

Commonly used in the Criminal world of The Kingdom of the Elements, Dirt trails are what they may sound like, markings in the dirt, of course, they are not actually trails, though often they come in the form of lines.   Dirt trails are common in the forest of Amma wherever you might travel in the forest. They were invented as makeshift property lines, territory markers, and temporary sanctuary signals. If you come to a part of the woods and find a line on the ground where the dirt has been disturbed, a long thick line where the dirt has been displaced by a thick tree branch, this is an "Enter at your own peril" line. It means this is a claimed territory and those who enter could be killed on sight. Usually used to circle areas a band of thieves, a small community, or a family who hates unexpected visitors' live.   This is one of the examples. there are many dirt trails with many meanings, some help those who travel in the woods if they know what to look for, others let you know you are unwelcome.   Solid thick line - Enter at your own demise   Dotted line - Friends or enemies' enemy welcome   small circle drawn in the dirt - Area dangerous after sunset   Small circle drawn in dirt with an X through it - Area dangerous at all times   Dirt mound line in front of a cave opening - provisions cave take something leave something   arrow in the dirt - a mile in that direction you will find a trading post, a place anyone can stay or trade from any walk of life   Dirt square - Watch for dancing puppets   Dirt square with X - Those who don't climb fences lerk, it's probably too late   Triangle - river spirits   Those who don't know the code in this area, do know most things drawn in the dirt mean danger.  there are many many symbols, most can be learned if you find your way to a trading post.
