Zanar (Zan-nar)

Perhaps one of Feland's most oddball settlements, Zanar is unique among its peers for several reasons, but all of them stem from its interesting founding. The settlers were originally looking to establish a port town and become the nation's route into the wider seas and oceans of Zatvor. What they found, however, was the ruins of another town in a prime location. A scan of the area and consultation with The Magocracy indicated that these ruins were several thousands of years old and of unknown origins, but otherwise safe to explore and settle into, showing no signs of any danger. It was decided that it would save time, money and manpower to salvage what was possible of the ruins and built on top of them, thus leading to a weird amalgamation of ancient and modern architecture.   As if that wasn't enough, however, Zanar's fate went in an even stranger direction when more ruins were discovered from digging into the earth. These ruins were more complete in nature and even featured some dungeon-like areas with surviving relics of the past. Again The Magocracy was consulted and again they were unable to find any danger, but what they did find was a smattering of books and technology that managed to survive the millenia. This knowledge has mostly stayed within Zanar, with some of it making its way back to Truce, since it is still unknown to this day the implications of these discoveries. Zanar, however, has served as something of a testing ground for this lost technology. Artificers and Wizards from all across the nation have gathered here to access what knowledge is allowed, and with that knowledge they have birthed many wonders of technology. Stories tell of dozens of golem-like creatures that work endlessly and autonomously, buildings that are able to reach tens or hundreds of feet into the air without the aid of magic or magical materials, massive engine-powered carriages that can transport as much weight as ten horses and in half the time, and much more.
