Jazir'rak

Jazir'rak is one of the many small ports within the Keel-stone islands. It is located off the western coast of the twin isles. It is considered neutral territory but given its main residents and visitors, it is unlikely to receive any sort of interdiction or visitation from the law.   Though the island is outside of the law of the Bay of Hounds and its alliance, as agreed to by the alliance, it does maintain a few "guidelines." These consist of simple rules to keep the neutrality and prosperity of Jazir'rak and not to infringe upon the revelries of its visitors. The most prominent being that weapons are permitted but the taking of a life is not. Each body part has an associated percentage of value to each person, and based upon their value can be relatively inexpensive or your life's savings. Should a body part become injured beyond use or removed the aforementioned value shall be paid in reoperations. Should loss of life occur... best to just not think about it. This is usually enough to maintain order but there are hired hands from the Keel lords to ensure it is kept. These hands are often indistinguishable from everyone else which helps to keep the peace.   The island is one of the smallest in the archipelago at just over three-hundred square kilometers. The exact population of the island is unknown but is estimated to be anywhere from two to five thousand. This number includes frequent visitors as well as those who remain housed on land. Jazir'rak being a neutral, location its visitors can range from scallywags to honest merchants, as to who is who, it is often unclear.   Jazir'rak was founded when the Keel lords found that an avenue of trade would be required to maintain the influx of more common supplies, as most pirates do not wish to risk their lives for trivial things like grain. The island continued to remain a predominant trading point even after the encroachment upon Lulegwharf. Lulegwharf acts as more of the land connection to start trade, while Jazir'rak acts as a distribution center.   Aside from trade outside of the taxation and inspection of Hound Alliance nobility, the island maintains several other economic ventures. On the island a crewmember can find all manner of entertainment, be it company of some exotic beast-folk or the company of a mug of brew. As for more well funded guests, Jazir'rak offers one of the largest assortment of inkers as well as an exclusive gambling hall. Many of the residents and employees of the island come from less than fortunate gamblers.
