Blight Walkers

Blight walkers, or simply walkers, are a group of several races that were once indigenous to the Url'Thiir of old but, after the Great Razing, resolved themselves to walking the now scourged land. Unlike the quasi-feudal Url'Thiites the Blight walkers maintain the original practice of tribalism. Some of the more common races among the walkers are Squamata, Gypinae, and Rattus. They are seldom seen traveling in groups in the Hold'ir waste, instead at any given time or place a solitary walker can be spotted within the waste, given good eyesight.   They are easily identified by the all encompassing black and brown clothing that they wear. The clothing is a multilayered affair of silk clothes that drape about them in an effort to protect any amount of flesh. Their heads are often covered in a cloak with a wrapping of similar fabrics covering the ears and necks. Their faces are likewise encased in masks made from the leather of some native creature within the waste. Each mask is affixed with a shortened cylinder containing some secretive blend of herbs and other materials. These cylinders have been witnessed to be removable but when they are changed and discarded the remnants are no longer identifiable. The few walkers who have spoken on the choice in attire claim the masks prevent the sickness that is caused by the plumes of gas that seep from the cracks in the waste's soil. They further explain that the coverings are required not only for protection from scorching rays but also small insects who may carry some foul poison or worse. Most travelers who have managed to find the aid of a Blight walker do not ask many questions however, since those found wandering the waste without a guide are often found as corpses.   Walkers take with them no beasts of burden, nor any cart to carry supplies. Blight walkers are known to survive with homemade equipment made from a variety of materials. Perhaps a spear fashioned from the thigh bones of some massive beast, and the tip of a horn tied together with the braided intestines of a slain monster, or a crudely forged blade made from the shattered remains of weapons by unlucky travelers. Most walkers endeavor to stay out of range of the hostile denizens of the blight, only turning to their crude, but durable and effective melee weapons as a last resort. They tend to travel lightly, carrying packs of gear and supplies, replenishing where they can, but possessing little in the form of traditional valuables of luxuries.
