Marquis Gaston Jean-Paul du Chat's Grande Theatre

Marquis Gaston Jean-Paul du Chat's Grande Theatre is a movie theatre powered by illusion magic, opened by Francine du Chat in 78 A.W. It was named in remembrance and dedication to her great-great-great-great-grandfather, Marquis Gaston Jean-Paul du Chat, who was one of the few virtuous nobles who was overthrown in 122 B.W. in the Revolution of Zaldebrash City.

Architecture

The front of the theatre is grand, befitting its name. An illusory sign shimmers above the red overhang above the entrance, reading Marquis Gaston Jean-Paul du Chat's Grande Theatre. The whole building is constructed out of marble, and in our world, the theatre would be said to almost be gothic in architecture.

Defenses

When the theatre closes down for the night, the ghost of Marquis Gaston Jean-Paul du Chat patrols the theatre. If he catches an intruder, the eccentric spectre absent-mindedly enthralls them in conversation until day breaks, at which point the intruder is caught and swiftly arrested by the police.

Tourism

Many customers can be found enjoying movies at Marquis Gaston Jean-Paul du Chat's Grande Theatre. However, there are a few regulars:
  • Marquis Gaston Jean-Paul du Chat: He is the ghost of the tiefling noble Marquis Gaston Jean-Paul du Chat. He is chaotic good. He is a virtuous if eccentric individual who is proud of his great-great-great-great-granddaughter and wants to support her, even in his undeath. His head is nearly decapitated as a result of his death centuries ago, a story he will tell over and over again to anyone willing to listen. However, the Marquis prefers a good story to the facts, and therefore will tell a different story every time, even if the same person asks him. He is a noted rogue and sorcerer. He is routinely pestered by religious orders trying to find a way to help him move on when quite frankly, he doesn't want to move on. He's found the afterlife rather dull and wants to stay in the world of the living.
  • Old Man Jenkins: Old Man Jenkins is an old man who was famous for campaigning for rights during the Civil Rights Movement. Now that his mission is complete, he spends most of his time marveling at the theatre’s venues and taking walks along the bay.
  • Arghylia: Arghyla is a flumph (basically think psychic flying talking jellyfish) who is often seen at the theatre. She considers it like the flumph equivalent of a restaurant, psychically feeding upon the emotions of other movie-goers. She is generally cheerful, and is a massive fan of the film Flumphs on Parade.
  • Zix Warple: A snobbish doppelganger film critic and movie journalist, he generally enjoys the films Francine shows at the theatre, almost always leaving positive reviews on AMDb (the Arcane Movie Database) and in The Zaldebrash Times for each one.
