Dar'Aeldvari

Deep Elves (dar’Aeldvari) are alternately considered Heavens Elves when related to dreaming or oracles, or Wild Elves when related to the stone and caverns where they live. Most of them consider themselves neither Heavens Elves nor Wild Elves, and the debate over their category doesn’t concern them. They are also known as Pale Elves, Dreaming Elves, Blind Elves, and Lurking Elves.   The tallest Aeldvari at an average 6.5’ high, Deep Elves have an eerily thin, elongated build that is almost reminiscent of a slanting shadow. Their skin is almost universally milk-pale with a pearlescent gleam; their eyes are glassy white with fogged-over slitted pupils; and their fine, straight hair is either ink-black or unpigmented and translucent.   Deep Elves are known for being mysterious (by nature and also on purpose), extremely reclusive, and strangely prophetic in their riddling speech. Their aesthetic prizes intricate detail and asymmetry, especially when in “uncanny valley” format, and their stone-based architecture mimics natural caves and tunnels as much as possible with bioluminescent lighting. They are very manabound, preferring mana at least once a day, and live an average of 2,000 years.   Their language, Darvaren or Darfar, resembles Icelandic.
