Syntalius

To call the Syntalius a species is a slight error. They are more a branch of evolution. It is not known exactly where these creatures came from, with theories ranging from the blood moon to underground volcanoes, but around 2000 years ago there were the first sightings of them recorded. Back then they were a group of much simpler creatures. Small, worm like, prone to attack regardless of the danger. They were little more than an oddity, no two captured seemingly the same, but all with a similar behaviour and similar internal anatomy. It is not known how but they seemed to change rapidly from generation to generation. For over 1500 years, sightings of them grew sparse.   Around the year 6300 the Syntalius re-emerged to the world. At least scholars seem to think these are the Syntalius of days gone by, with Xor mercenaries attesting to such. They had changed a lot in their dormant times, and for reasons truly unknown to the world, they seem to have risen with the intent of devouring Yr. Since rising they have spread at an ever more alarming rate, and in doing so the extent of their rapid evolutionary abilities have become public knowledge - they are able to significantly change parts of their bodies over a single generation, seemingly with some form of knowledge on how to defeat a particular opponent.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The anatomy of each sub-species of the Syntalius can vary significantly. Generally speaking they do however favour the use of both an external and internal skeletal structure. In addition to this their muscle tissue is typically thicker than the average humanoid on Yr, with more emphasis placed on short strong usage rather than drawn out use of muscles.   Number of limbs varies dramatically from zero to some being known to have as many as twenty separate limbs. This can vary both between and within subspecies, depending on what the task at hand appears to be.
