Starcrystal
Starcrystals are precious gems that form in strict cirsumstances, in the very few hot spring lakes around the Northern Hemisphere. These crystals are created from the rare stardust which forms between the transition from a Sun to a Red Giant.
Properties
Material Characteristics
If the beautiful shimmer and transparency of the crystal wasn't enough, it also give off a faint pink glow to it. When it gets closer to sources of light, both natural and artificial, it glows even brighter, to the point it can fill rooms. The crystals have a smooth, glassy texture which can refract light.
Physical & Chemical Properties
The closer the crystals are to sources of light, the warmer it gets, since their birthplace were Suns. The crystals give off a baby pink glow when it is out in the open.
Geology & Geography
These crystals are found in few hot spring lakes in cold climates in the Northern Hemisphere. First found in Caira, just north of Nevaan, these crystals have been spotted forming in lakes in Nydiowa, Hanoan, Giriga, Lanrahur, Kaltia, Zuizraca, and Drufenis.
Origin & Source
The source of these starcrystals actually come from stars themselves. The main cycle of a star, when turning into a Red Giant, will shed parts of them while they expand. These parts of the star is actually stardust, which floats through space, forming large meteor clumps, and then explode on impact with planets. Most of the time, the stardust disappears, but if it gets caught in specially hot lakes, or hot springs, they won't. The stardust sprinkles will sit just below the surface of the water, and will absorb as many of the Sun's rays as they can. This gradually builds up, the solar energy turns into crystaldust, and then this turns into the crystals that can build up so large, they've been seen up to a metre in diameter.
History & Usage
Cultural Significance and Usage
These crystals are a precious jewelry in Caira. They are used as the centrepiece of necklaces, bracelets, and rings worn by many people. The crystals are a common symbol of peace in Cairan culture.
Distribution
Trade & Market
The stardust from Suns transitioning can travel quadrillions of light years, meaning the starcrystals can be from Suns further away than you can possibly imagine. The rarity of these Suns transitioning means that there aren't many of these starcrystals on Greenerth, making them all the more valuable. But the ability to duplicate them, and grow them from excess stardust means they are renewable.
