Mushára Species in Yonderverse | World Anvil

Mushára

The Mushára are the delicate race of fairy people living in the mushroom forests of Aekor. Having a friendly relationship with the Potato Goblins, they are often seen in each other's towns as visitors, and some even coexist with each other.

Basic Information

Anatomy

A small fairy species, Mushára rarely exceed a foot tall, most often at about 20cm as an adult. Their figures are rather slim, with an hourglass shaped body, long limbs, and a long neck. Their heads are a spherical shape, with two longish ears on either side ending in a sharp point.

Skin

Despite the colour green being common among races of creatures on Greenerth, the shade of it is what makes Mushára so distinct. The light green colour, almost a lime, is only seen in these fairies.

Bright hair

Hair colour differs greatly with the Mushára, a deep scarlet is most common. However, browns, oranges and yellows can also be seen relatively commonly. The outcome of one's hair is determined genetically, from their parents, the hair colour most often being a mixture of the two shades.

Wings

Only fairies have the bright, glassy wings that these do. The wings are a classic fairy shape, more oval shapes, with no feathers, instead insect like, made from cuticle, one of the most common natural resources in the Yonderverse. The wings have certain magical properties that make them very difficult to break, and this magic also makes them shimmer an array of colours, yellows, blues, pinks, purples, oranges, etc.

Genetics and Reproduction

Mushára lay a larva when they are about 5 years old. The first time they lay a larva is it asexually, however each other time is through procreation. The larvas grow in a small chamber like container.
The first birth is the most important in a Mushára life cycle, and is taken very seriously. Juveniles are taught about this birth when they are 3 or 4 years old, giving them the next year to prepare themselves, such as carving the chamber out of mushroom wood.

Growth Rate & Stages

The larva will spend 6 months just eating and sleeping until it creates a chrysalis by sealing the chamber with a sticky silk web, and it will burst out a week later as a juvenile mushára.

Ecology and Habitats

These magnificent fairies live in the mushrooms forests of Aendatha, close to the potato goblins. They live in small villages dotted across the country, inside the giant mushrooms, both in the stems and caps.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Mushára are sporeivores, they survive off of the many spores that mushrooms produce. By scooping them out of the gills with jars, they can eat up to a million spores a day, needing about 800,000 a day to survive, about half for juveniles. Mushára have a very simple, plain and boring diet, so they invented various foods made from spores cooked in different ways, for example spore soup, which is just many blended spores.   The Mushára grow mushrooms in massive shroomyards, paths through long rows of giant mushrooms lead them directly underneath the gills, where they can manually harvest the spores ready for eating, sold in shops all over the villages. The shroomyards take up on average 80% of the village spaces, as each mushroom produces just enough spores daily to satisfy a Mushára daily, give or take a few hundred mushrooms.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

Their heads are a spherical shape, with two large ears on either side ending in sharp points. Their eyes are small and round, with a variety of coloured irises and a small pupil that dilates on a regular basis, based on the amount of sunlight.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Mushára reside in the mushroom forests of Aekor, where they coexist peacefully. They live on the outskirts of their mushroom forests, as do the potato goblins, with their large farms growing in open areas, their houses in the forests themselves.

Average Intelligence

Mushára are not the most intelligent of races, same goes for their potato goblin friends. Mushára spend their days oblivious to most things in the Yonderverse, simply using all their abilities to farm, fly around, and look after their many, many pets.

Civilization and Culture

Beauty Ideals

Mushára believe that the paler, fairer skin, the better. The smoothest skin is sought out in a mate, however in recent years that search has faded slightly, becoming less of a priority in a partner. Possibly the weirdest beauty ideal was favouring blue eyes over other eyes. Blue eyes were seen as innocent, whereas others weren't, which meant that some people had an unfair advantage when it came to beauty, which non-blue eyed people did not appreciate.

Relationship Ideals

Mushára believed in mating for life. Since their lives were short, they wasted absolutely no time in finding a partner. They would intend to find their perfect partner by their 10th birthday, giving them half of their life with this partner. Through trial and error, Mushára would meet various people, hoping that a strong bond and connection would arise and they would get married, but unfortunately in most cases this didn't happen. Most Mushára meet up to 15 people before finding their true love, which can take many years.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Mushára have one of the friendliest relationships with the potato goblins. Both being farming civilisations, they have co-existed ever since the potato goblins moved to Sher forest, next to the fairies. They traded resources for thousands of years and their pacifist nature established themselves a great relationship. Some fairies and goblins have even moved into each other's villages.

Average Physique
Mushára have a very slim body, with a smooth, pale, yellowy/pink skin. They have long appendages, with 3 toes and fingers on each of them.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Mushára skin is a light green. This specific shade of green is rare in sapient species, they are the only known race on Greenerth to have a lime coloured skin, where quite a few have a darker green skin. Their skin is very smooth, with rougher skin on their elbows, on the backs of their necks, and on the soles of their feet. The rougher skin on their necks are to protect it, since that area is generally the most vulnerable, but the rough skin on their feet are from excessive walking, which can be avoided by flying.
