Humans by Any Other Name

The folk of Koros are functionally alike to other humans. Tanned or yellowed skin, dark eyes, two arms, two legs, six fingers and toes, two eyes, one mouth, one Soul. They have low brows and a flattish cranial cavity. Their jowls are square and muscular, perfect for their grain intensive diet. They only recently discovered a propensity for flesh as there are few wild animals worth the trouble of hunting. The twisthorn stags and fish from their coasts are the main source of meat. These people dress in simple, wrapped tunics with high collars to ward off the rain of the wet season. The mages of Koros often tell the stories of the past tribes and nations, being one of the few organized groups and remaining outside the interpolitical shift of nations. Many even keep to the mountaintops to answer concerns and queries as unbiased as they can. These rarely practice in the more practical mage arts, such as masonry or smithing. Despite the fairly common gold deposits, the Korosians' believe gold poisons the water supply and won't drink from streams which they have found gold in.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The polydactyl nature of Korosians is a heavy influence on their society. Handheld objects require longer handles, mugs are taller and thinner.

Growth Rate & Stages

Most Korosians who survive childhood (the juvenile stages are the most deadly) often live into their sixties. Most families have three or four wives under one husband and raise between five and twelve children over thirty or so years. During that time, there may be as many as thirty pregnancies between the wives. Pregnancy mortality rate is rarely higher than thirty percent, but it is always a concern.

Biological Cycle

Korosian society is indoctrinated on the idea of chaos as creation. There are very few related species on their island country and so they believe the Creator gave each animal (and humans) different abilities in a sort of experiment to see which form would be best. The Korosian populace believes the Creator to be omnipresent and to take on the form of water; the logic here is that there is nothing more chaotic or necessary than water. They believe the Soul moves on to become a star and create light and life. Eventually, they say, the night will be brighter than the day and the heavens will be attainable by mortals.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

They have developed keen eyesight in foggy conditions.
