Early Life

Mara Galanodel was born on the 2 Spr. 398 ADW in Cila - an elven village on the northern shores of current day Ilath Alora - to Nafia (née Silverkin) and Azil Brightwood. Both her father and mother were explorers and spent much of their lives among the elves in the Southern Wilds. Mara spent most of her childhood in Cila with rare trips back to her parents home in Persima. It was while living among the elves that she met Galalwe, an elvish druid, who began to teach her about nature magic from the age of eight.

On one of her trips to Persima when Mara was fifteen her parents decided to apprentice her to the city's scribes guild so that she could spend more time among her own people. But after four months of apprenticeship her parents mysteriously disappeared. In an effort to locate her parents she uncovered information that her parents had borrowed money from The Whisperers, a gang in the city's underground, to pay for her apprenticeship fees. Fearing that the gang might target her next, Mara stole money from the scribes guild and purchased passage on a fishing boat back to Cila.

Upon Mara's arrival back in Cila, Galalwe took her in and continued her training in druidic nature magic. She then remained in Cila from the age of 15 until 23, at which time she returned to Persima in hopes of finding her parents.

Moorehead's Rebellion

Upon arrival in Persima she received a letter from Klyde Talldown, a bargeman from Dundike, who had known of Mara from her parents and was requesting help. The letter said:

"Mara,   Your parents said you could help. There is a man named Moorehead in town who doesn't seem to be who he says he is. I don't trust him but he has won over the entire village. Please come to Dundike.   Klyde"

Hoping to find her parents Mara immediately set out for Dundike. While in Dundike, Mara worked closely with Klyde to investigate a man named John Moorehead who Klyde suspected might have some connections with The Whisperers. During this time a romantic relationship developed between Mara and Klyde. Mara took up residence in a small hut on the outskirts of town in order to remain secluded from the rest of the curious townspeople. They conducted their investigation mostly undercover of dark due to Moorehead's popularity around town.

After a couple months of investigating Moorehead's business dealings Klyde went to confront him about his mysterious connections outside of town. Less than a week later Klyde disappered during one of his barge runs down the river to Persima. Fearing that she would become Moorehead's next target, Mara shut herself off in here small hut. It wasn't long until three strangers in town made a scene during a feigned tiefling attack that was staged by Moorehead. These three strangers were Vivec, Nigel and Akra. Finding that these strangers weren't as charmed by Moorehead as the rest of the town, Mara hired them to help investigate.

Their investigations over the next three years uncovered many secrets in Moorehead's past as well as shady and often illegal dealings. They discovered that Moorehead was once a member of the Pallatian military stationed in the ancient Freehold where he murdered his commanding officer and then poisoned the evening meal which led to the death of his entire battalion. He eventually covered this up as a tiefling raid. Moorehead had spent the last five years orchestrating the rising of tensions between Pallatia and the Tiefling Clans.

The False War

This all came to a head in the Summer of 424 ADW when Pallatia launched a preemptive strike on the tieflings. During which time Moorehead planned to assassinate a number of high ranking government officials in an attempt to take power himself. This plan was foiled unintentionally by Vell Dinzahar who was in Persima on a diplomatic mission from Baraas. But the seeds of war had already been planted and the Tiefling Clans united under one banner and declared war on Pallatia.

Mara and here crew of misfits joined up with Vell in Persima and spent the next year desperately trying to find proof of Moorehead's treason and convince the tieflings and Pallatians to end their war. Then finally in the winter of 425 ADW the members of the Heralds of Truth brought Moorehead before the leaders of Thell and Pallatia during a temporary truce and Vell used magical means to force Moorehead to reveal the truth.

On 31 Win. 425 ADW, Mara facilitated the peace talks between Pallatia and Thell, during which the Persimian Accords were signed. As a part of the peace deal Pallatia promised to spend the next 10 years provided labor and funding for the founding of a city around the Eimsgate for the tieflings.
