Blackridge Castle

The Blackridge castle is a giant castle at the fork in the road between the nations Katyusha, Ceder, and Smog. The castle is giant and is called the most defensive force in the entirety of Yellgove, it has been changed millions of times through the multiple wars between Smog and Katyusha. People who live near the castle are known to all work at the castle or in the surrounding woods to get food for the castle workers. The fortress sits upon the coal working ridge that is now inactive because of its mass of different miners and has now become unsafe for its workers that remain.

Purpose / Function

It is the biggest defensive structure in between Smog to Katyusha, It has been known to have been used as a capital for a few years of was between Smog and Katyusha. Your group can go there to talk to the blacksmith of BlackBridge and to trade, earn money, and to sleep. granted be careful what days your group goes there because sometimes there is a land trade in the middle of the night and your group can come under attack (I suggest a 10d or lower causes attack and 20d or higher does not.)

Design

There are many different buildings in the castle but there is a primary of cobblestone in the buildings along with massive amounts of scrap iron, steel, and slag. some people call the castle the land of metal working because of how much working goes on in the castle grounds.

Entries

there is a giant gate at the south side of the castle and it has multiple different smaller entrances that are all locked, it has multiple arrow slits and windows along the walls.

Sensory & Appearance

the castle has been known to carry a very nasty feeling behind it and it carries a smell and leaves a taste in your mouth of coal and copper.

Denizens

The castle is filled with soldiers, blacksmiths, miners, and hunters all from around the area. in the mines below it, there are thousands of goblins, giant rats, roaches, snakes, spiders, and dead miners who have risen from the dead.

Contents & Furnishings

there is an abundance of anvils and forges, there are also many weapons such as bows and axes, there are also catapults around the walls that have munitions (maybe it could be used as a distraction).

Valuables

there is a large amount of steel coins in the mines below the castle, thousands of people have died below the castle searching for the coins.

Hazards & Traps

there are mostly bomb traps below the castle left by an adventuring group that called themselves the IRA, weeks after they went in two of them stumbled out saying that the rest of the group had died (they then dropped dead on the spot from illness).

Special Properties

the mines have air ducts and water pipes, a perfect place to travel or to plant traps.

Alterations

In 258th year when the nation of Smog reclaimed the castle, they added Calvary stoppers in the roads to prevent Calvary attacks once the front gate was opened then in 260th year the Katyushan's improved upon the Calvary stoppers and then raised the walls and made foot deep trenches around the castle at angles unable to be seen if using infantry troops or Calvary. then in 300th year the Smog added stone tops to the towers and more arrow slits in the walls. finally in 303ed year the Katyushan's added two small catapults and a few ballistic to the castle walls.

Architecture

It is a Defensive structure within 50yd of the edge of a small drop into a river on the left side of the castle from the gatehouse. the walls are colored a dark grey with patched walls with newer stones in some spots. the few houses inside mostly have stone walls with a dark shade of green on the rooftops. most of the walkways inside the castle have waist-high posts sometimes taller. the towers have inclosed stone tops with many small arrow slits.

History

It was created in the 254th year of Yellgove by order of king Kroger leader of Katyusha, it changed hands over one hundred times between Smog and Katyusha causing many changes in the defensive architecture, also for a short time the nation of Cedar controlled the castle. it is now owned by the Katyushan nation but has been known to change hands extremely quickly so in your campaign, you can choose whether it is or is not changed between the nations.
