The Library of West Aller

General Summary

10th Diteday of Mistir. It is Yama, the celebration of the God Diteus for the hottest day of the year. Rain pours down and the chill of the wind cuts through the jackets of the party. They walk down the West Aller high street and approach the looming library.
Inside they meet Serial, the towering librarian, gaunt and seems to move without walking. He introduces them to the library. Lets them know that the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors are free for them to peruse, however the basement has been blocked for the last 150 years. During the Brute Uprising an ogre threw a bolder into the library and inadvertently blocked the entrance to the basement.
The party search the library for information. Alda learns that Judie and Harold's last name was Farrant, and they lived in Khat before it sunk. Judie was a librarian in Khat, but when the city disappeared into the lake they became refugees in the Blackwood household. They remained there for 7 years before Judie left to join the Jetyhan Convent.
Felix struggled to learn much other than what he already knew. What he did learn was the identity of the only other person in the library, a half-orc named Othrod. Othrod was searching for his family history, the magnificent soldiers for him to live up to. He believes he found it in the face of a rivet studded full orc.
Somnis learnt that 50 years and 2 seasons ago was the first time giants or dragons were seen on the Material Plane.
Determining that there was not much more to be learnt in the 3 above ground floors, their new strong friend shifted the boulder. They descended into the basement. They were not alone. Scuttling among the darkness was a small hunched humanoid, with shards of bone protruding from its back and a large singular eye. The creature was very helpful once it was able to communicate, though it did not speak common it could communicate with Somnis' telepathy. It explained that it was a researcher who had become trapped down here after the boulder closed off the basement. He committed himself to research, and was unaware of the creature he'd deformed into, previously being a human. He mentioned there were others in the basement like him, and another who had grown more powerful and started leading them; his name was Philip. Eventually the creature let slip that he was aware of some advancements of the last 150 years and lead the party to a book, fastened to a lectern secured to the floor that seemed to be writing itself.
Somnis was the first to attempt to read it and felt a hunger for knowledge paw at his mind but he resisted. He learnt from the book the tale of Nikus No More.
Alda was able to learn about the history of the Gifts of the Eight and how The Eight originally sunk the Dark Continent into the ocean of the Material Plane without succumbing to the temptation to read more.
Eager to learn more about his quarry, Felix delved into the book. The enchanting seduction of knowledge got a hole of him and in moments he was flying through the pages reading all he could. As he read, his physical form began to tear away. Within a minute, Felix was shreads in the air as a powerful dark undead, known as an Allip, stood in his place.
The party destroyed the malevolent force and left the basement, trying to work out if they should take the book, or outright destroy it.
