Personal history

Ignatius was born to the Bancroft's, one of the powerful families of Po. From an early age, his parents placed him with a private tutor to teach him the basics of education; mathematics, science, literature, history and most importantly linguistics. The tutor was hired to teach Ignatius fluency in Common, Elven and Dwarven. However upon noticing Ignatius's love of language he gave the child guidance in learning more exotic languages, giving him books on Primordial and Sylvan.   Ignatius spent most of his times outside of classes in the libraries of Po and his own family's personal collections. This was much to the dislike of his parents and Elders of the family as they wanted him to be more like them, harsh and business focused. They let this go while he was younger, hoping that when he grew older he would take the business more seriously.   Luckily for the family, these worries were remedied by Ignatius's older brother, Hoyt, who took to the role as a ruthless businessman far better than he ever could. When the two brothers reached their teens a divide started to appear between them as Ignatius was hired on the administration side of the company while Hoyt was being groomed to take over as Head of the family. This wasn't something Ignatius was bothered about, however, his parents made sure that the two were in contest to each other; believing it would create a competitive nature in the two. This worked on Hoyt, who took to his new role with gusto.   As Ignatius was pulled more into the family business he learned more about the illicit activities he had willfully ignored in the past. This was something he could never fully agree with and although he did not blame his family directly for these actions as the business needed to survive he blamed the Elders for their interjection into what should be a family affair. He would have frequent arguments with his family however the most heated arguments tended to be between Ignatius and the Elders. Once almost coming to blows.   The biggest mistake Ignatius has made happened after one of these arguments with an Elder. While having a heated conversation with his parents about an important piece of information he came across during his work and the moral implication of the documents one of the Elders interjected, telling Ignatius it was not his place within the family and he should just do his work. This did not sit well with Ignatius but instead of firing back, in his frustration he went to a member of the Foxwells and handed the information to them. It was only a short time later that he knew this was a mistake and although his family may be ruthless, the other families are not better. This was the action that made his family lose trust in him, leaving him to work almost isolated from the family. Only living with them and going to social events to keep up appearances.   For the next few years Ignatius kept his head down, doing whatever he could to help out the poorer people in the city but without the trust, he used to have he wouldn't have enough money to do so. The emotional isolation did create a lot of freedom for Ignatius to continue his learnings, teaching himself Draconic and training in the basics of Arcane magic focusing on Conjuration magic.   Most recently one night he overheard his parents talking to a stranger, not wanting to anger them more he waited outside only to overhear them talking about the Gifts of the Eight and how they wanted to collect them. With some knowledge of these magical items and the name of the Glitter Gold Gang he gathered his things and headed off on the trail of the Gifts.

Education

The Bancroft family put all of their children through basic education; mathematics, science, history and classes in Common, Elven and Dwarvish until fluency. After this education, the children are then expected to work for the business and learn both the face and the background. They also have elocution and etiquette lessons to prepare them for high society.   Ignatius however always had the drive to educate himself further. After talking to his linguistics tutor Ignatius was pointed toward how he can learn Primordial and Sylvan. From there he spent the majority of his time at the libraries, learning vast history and eventually learning the basics of Magic. This sparked his interest and eventual fluency in Draconic, the language of magic.   After a few years of self-taught magic, Ignatius discovered a book on Conjuration. His affinity for the arcane became focused with this school, first learning how to conjure items from thin air then learning more complicated spellcasting.
