Tersus

Tersus is a country located to the North of Xon. Beautiful clear beaches and picturesque rolling hills make Tersus a popular destination for vacationers. It is the origin country of Tersi robots. Tersus is one of the most influential and powerful nations on Xon along with Seya, Akol, the Comine Republic, and the Dismantler Kingdom.

CULTURE

Tersens are known for their hospitality and eagerness to please. They are a welcoming nation that is considered to be one of the most ‘accepting’ and ahead of the times in terms of equal rights and freedoms. However, Tersus is heavily against homosexuality and other non-heterosexual partnerships. And while not illegal, gay and bisexual Tersens will often find themselves ostracized from society and treated with contempt.

Languages

Main Article: Tersae Tersae is the main and an official language spoken in Tersus. The other official language, Common, also has a high usage rate, and in many cases Tersens will prefer to speak Common over their native Tersae. Other notable languages spoken include Sey (Southern Tersus), Lamdh (Western), and TBA (Eastern).

Family, Relationships, & Sexuality

Most Tersens practice polygyny - a male with more than 1 female partner. The number of wives a male Tersen may have can be as few as 2 or as many as 10, with the average being 2-4. Tersens of higher socioeconomic status tend to take more wives, while lower socioeconomic levels have less. The general consensus is that a husband must be able to financially and romantically provide for all his wives equally for the duration of his life or theirs. Wives usually aren’t married together. Instead a husband must get permission from his current wife or wives if he is considering marrying another. It should be noted that there is some social pressure to accept a new wife. Jealousy sometimes does come up. Other notes:

The wives share a close bond and kinship and will raise their children together, although the husband is still expected to take part in childcare (albeit to a lesser degree).
A husband or wife/wives having sexual/romantic relations outside of their established relationship is considered cheating.
Any sort of romantic or sexual interactions or relations between wives is extremely frowned upon.

Social Issues & Movements

Homos bad - Homosexuality and bisexuality are not prosecuted, but are heavily frowned upon. Legally they cannot marry a same-sex partner and it is legal for other Tersens to discriminate against homosexuals such as for employment, providing services and goods, etc. The reason why ties in with the Tersi massacre and population decimation: Tersi nearly went extinct and getting their numbers back was vital. Since homosexual partners didn’t contribute to the population growth, overtime Tersens/Tersi began to resent these partnerships. Further reasons and justifications are that it’s ‘unnatural’.
