Core

The core is a vital internal mechanism located in all robots that operates as their lifeforce. It is located inside the upper, middle area of the chest and is integrated with the harddrive*.

A robot is considered deceased if their core no longer provides energy and cannot be restarted. The core can sometimes be restarted through a strong external electrical jolt. However if a robot has been dead for too long, this process is usually futile.

Over time the core's ability to process, store, and use energy deteriorates, and thus robots can die of 'old age'. The medical term for this is core deterioration.
