The only people who can get the black spot are those what anger Davy Jones, though it is hard to do, often saved for those who learn the truth about him

Symptoms

A gigantic black spot shows up on the person’s body, nearly impossible to hide. They also suffer from necrosis as the flesh slowly rots from their bones and suffer from horrible and frequent hallucinations.

Treatment

No one knows the cure, short of divine intervention. The methods to actually cure it are the subject of a mighty adventure worthy of tales.

Prognosis

Death is certain with the black spot, though not from the disease itself. Rather the black spot is a calling to many extra dimensional creatures, which recognise the doomed as bearing the black spot, which makes their body and soul extremely valuable. However should the body not be taken the worst type of undead will rise and can be a real problem.

Many sailors have been claimed by the black spot, no one knows when it started and few care to know. Most sailors who were claimed were well known and all non sailors were famous. However a few less known sailors have died by it.

People fear those with the black spot, a sailor should thank the gods if they are still able to step on another boat if they’re caught with it.
