Hesperide

The Hesperides of the west inhabit the last true Elven nation, Thandava. Hesperides are extremely proud of their culture and history, having a deeper connection to their past than other Elven. They tend to be wary of outsiders, and hold fast to their religious traditions. They greatly value community, spirituality, and magic, making them a vibrant and resilient people.

Appearance

The elves of the west have medium to dark skin, warm or cool. Their white hair is very thick, and sometimes dyed colorfully. They tend to have androgynous, slightly sleek or athletic body types. Fire magic is common for them, so they have amber and red eyes.

Names

They do not have traditional family names. They have a given name, and a second name that can serve as a surname. This second name is typically the given name of a parent, and when written, comes before their own given name.

Religion

Hesperides closely follow the ancient Elvhen religion to the best of their ability. This can be difficult at times, for some records where destroyed or damaged during the 100 Year War and the Scourge. They have more knowledge of even the minor gods, but the most popular cults revolve around Aljaan, Kashaah, and Levone.

Ideals

Beauty Ideals

Long hair is considered very beautiful, the sign of someone with a noble soul, favored by the gods. Cutting ones hair can have a lot of connotations, but it usually signals that person is cut off from the gods in some way.   Gold eyes are considered the most beautiful, being evocative of the sun and their sun god Aljaan, who they favor above all others.

Gender Ideals

Hesperides still follow the agender structure of the ancient Elven. Because of this, they don't really have gender ideals. When presented with people from other cultures who do have gender, they don't really know what to do with them. They tend to not under stand gender roles.
