Skepsologist
Skepsologists are under the general "Scholar" umbrella, specializing in the study of Wyrthean races and cultures. An example of their studies is the descent of the Elves, from the Human and Sylf races. Another example is the study of the interconnected nature of certain myths that span Wyrth and predate the Age of Exploration, thus suggesting more than religious belief as the foundation for these stories.
The discipline of Skepsology is also been applied to the practices of Seekers and Skipjacks for categorizing the creatures they hunt by common traits, making the task of slaying them far easier.
Career
Qualifications
At the very least, one needs a Graduate's Degree in Skepsology, but higher degrees or certificates may be needed in order to receive the desired position.
Career Progression
The process starts with receiving their Graduate's Degree. Following that, they will likely be recruited to a research team, working under a Professor or Master of Skepsology. After that, they will either return to school to get a higher degree, or try to start their own research team. The goal of most Skepsologists is to become a lecturer. Whether they teach at a university or just travel, they generally aim to complete and consequently present their research.
Payment & Reimbursement
Generally speaking, the pay for being a Skepsologist is limited. While some are lucky and get sponsored by a wealthy benefactor, the majority are starving scholars. The exception are those that become instructors at a university. These Skepsologists are well paid, though not lavishly.
Perception
Purpose
Skepsologists serve to help track the growth and development of life in Wyrth. This applies to genetics, as well as cultural aspects, making them vital to understanding the history of the world as it is and was.
