Holy Theotria

Holy Theotria is one of the more common religions of the realm. No one knows who founded the religion as it’s easily 3000 years old, but it has endured. This is aided by the fact that the faith is more of a folk religion than formal, institutionalized, practice. It’s somewhat of a default religion for many, tossed out when someone wants to appear religious, but it certainly has its devotees.
The basic tenets of the faith teach that there are three gods: The Mother, The Father, and The Child. They also teach that nature and the world at large is a reflection of the gods. They believe that, when you die, you are not sent to one of the Heavens, Hells, or anywhere else. Instead, you are absorbed into the gods themselves. Reality, life, and nature are all a circle. The void begat the gods. The gods begat living creatures. When life comes to an end, it is reincorporated into the gods. Life begins with the Father, is carried out with the Child, and ends with the Mother. Reality is a circle, a law of three, and continuous.
The Child is a genderless deity of love, chaos, and art. It is depicted as both beautiful men and women, but its true form is extremely androgynous. It is unafraid of fraternizing with mortals, even having a number of children with them. Its symbol is three interlocking triangles.
The Father is the god of life and law. He has all white eyes and two white wings. He is viewed by many as oppressive or, at the very least, hard. His brilliance is difficult to look at, and he is the creator of law. His symbol is an upright triangle with a line going though it horizontally.
The Mother is the goddess of death and peace. She is depicted as a beautiful woman with four raven wings and black hair. Her eyes are completely black, and her voice is said to be soft and gentle. Her sacred symbol is three interconnected swirls.
It is because of the nature of these three deities that their beliefs are very loose. They are only really held to three religious obligations: improve the world for having you, love others beyond limit, and continue the flow of life. These extend to other beliefs like necromancy being a heresy because it disrupts the flow of life. However, because the religion is so informal, there’s not much else. In fact, they only hold worship services on holidays.
They also believe in beings called “Heralds”. They are Black Philip, Char, Radiance, Mo River, Gust, and Galax. Black Philip and Radiance are dark and light respectively, Char is fire, Mo River is water, Gust is wind, and Galax is cosmic. Together, they represent the Theotrian belief in the world as a reflection of the divine. There are three Heralds of the soul and three of the body. Black Philip, Radiance, and Galax are the Heralds of the Soul. Char, Mo River, and Gust are the Heralds of the body. Many call the Heralds angels, but Theotrians don’t really see them that way. They see them more as the physical embodiment of the element they represent – something like an elemental.
