Church of the Red God

The Church of the Red God is one of conquest. They believe in a singular god of fire that seeks to cleanse the world through flames. They believe that he pulled the world from the Lake of Fire in Ignethon. After molding it, he passed down the law by which mortals were to live. Over time, the world went astray, and it is the job of the faithful to bring them back.

To do this, they will burn heretics at the stake, and raze towns that put up temples or idols of other gods. Anyone who turns will be “cleansed” and allowed to join the church. This cleansing comes in the form of a flogging followed by a brand being placed on the forehead of the new believer. They believe that the flogging serves as a test of your strength. They want you to prove that you have the will to resist evil. The scars from the whipping and the brand then mark them as a member of the church.
The Red God is one of fire, war, and judgement. He is not known for his mercy, but is certainly known for his law. It is this strict set of rules that drive the church to their conquests. According to them, he would sooner see the world burn in eternal flame than fall to depravity.
He is a god of three faces. One is a four-eyed man with a crown of flame on his head. The face has no ears because of the other two. On the left of that face is that of a bull with no mouth. To the right of the four-eyed face is an eyeless ram.
The Church believes that these faces represent the need for them to abide no evil thing. Whether something heard, seen, or spoken, they must not allow evil to continue. What they see as “evil” is simply anything they don’t agree with.
You are to worship no god but the Red.  The priests are infallible, for they bear the spirit of the Red. A wife is to submit to the husband, and the husband to the Red. Purity is found in the fire.
These are their only four tenets. Every other aspect of the religion comes from stories of the Red God and the teachings of the priests. Every individual congregation of the Church will have slight variations as the religion has undergone a sort of telephone game, being passed down through the generations and altered a bit each time. However, the consistent thing is that they persecute other religions. This really seems to be the main tradition of the faith, and their only real purpose. This has led some scholars to believe that the Red God may actually be a high-ranked Demon garnering sacrifices by posing as a god.
