Iron

Iron is usually seen as a fairly innocent metal. However, to vampires, it is a pretty damaging and very effective at stripping powers and abilities. Notably, iron effects blood-based effects and powers, and the weakening remains for several days after the initial exposure.

Properties

Material Characteristics

Iron is a shiny, dull silver metal. It can be very lustrous when polished.

Physical & Chemical Properties

When most people touch iron, it is fairly cold unless heated. However, if one has the blood of a vampire, the metal feels heated from the inside.
Interestingly, when a vampire is exposed to iron, they become drained and their abilities become near-powerless (if exposed for countless days). Some vampires describe it like getting their powers sucked away, while others describe it like their powers are being burned from the sun.

History & Usage

Everyday use

Iron is used in many things; from cookware to weapons to nails to tools.

Cultural Significance and Usage

There have been some reported cases about "vampire cleansing rituals" that use iron, however any facts about these rituals are unknown at the moment.

Industrial Use

Iron often gets turned into steel for everyday items such as nails, hinges, doorknobs, etc.

Refinement

The ore is often smelted, sometimes with other metals if one wishes to experiment.

Manufacturing & Products

Blades, cylinders, corkscrews, base sheets, etc.

Reusability & Recycling

Most iron, after being made into an object, can often be smelted again. However, one needs to be aware of any extra metals mixed with the iron to safely do such.

Distribution

Law & Regulation

Werewolf-oriented organizations have tried limiting the usage of iron in weapons, considering werewolves have stopped directly hunting vampires. Some of these communities are known for stirring up lies and conspiracies to be latched upon by others in an effort to prevent the use in weapons.
