Church of the One True God

The monotheistic religion sanctioned by the Duchy and widely spread throughout the The Garden Expanse and beyond. Worship focuses on the pantheon of saints, rather than on the God himself, who remains somewhat abstract. The Church's presence in The Garden Expanse is, in modern times (1650 and on), somewhat diminished; many shrines and chapels that once saw regular worship have fallen into ruin and been reclaimed by the forests and wild lands. Some within the Church — in particular, the Arch-cardinal of Port Whitesword, Arch-cardinal Enlen Weiroot wish to rediscover and re-sanctify the lost shrines. Today, the followers of God are located all across Mythris, many despise them for their almost cult like ways of worship. The symbol and crest of God and the church is a circle, with a blazing sun in the center.

History

In 1402, a self proclaimed prophet oracle arrived in Port Whitesword. His name was never stated, and only responded to the name "Prophet". He spoke of a one true deity, one who created even Arahde'l, the All Mother and existed before the Void. Many of the religions of the world quickly denounced this as blasphemy. The Prophet backed up his theories with a map. On the map were dots placed around the world that created a perfect circle, he referred to it as the "World Road". A magical roadway that connects the world and God himself to the material world. The Prophet claims to have made this great pilgrimage and spoke to God himself. Today, in order to be a priest of God, one must complete this great journey and pray at the corresponding altars.

Cosmological Views

The church preaches that Arahde'l, the All Mother is a creation of God, and that she is a lesser deity. Which is considered blasphemy to other religions on Mythris.

Tenets of Faith

1. Generosity is paramount to the spirit of the devout.
2. Honesty is the first defense against wickedness.
3. Strength comes from the One, the devout can use this strength.
4. Spread the word of the One wherever you travel.

Priesthood

Those that attain the rank of Bishop are considered Saints, and are permitted to be worshiped for their individual qualities.

Political Influence & Intrigue

It is well known that Archduke Balor Silvercrow is a fanatical follower of the Church, and it is rumored that it was truly the church that convinced him to wage war against the Border Princes, rather than the people of Port Whitesword themselves.
