The Death Flute of the Valderian Mountains

The death flute is an instrument that exist in historical records, but is believed to be a myth. According to the accounts, the death flute is located somewhere in the mountain chain in the west of the ruins of Valderia guarded by Asthan the death dragon. Doubts about the veracity of the myth arised because accourding to history Asthan was defeated by Ettor of Nastria in the year 153 E.R. (era of the reigns)  Also, dragons are believed to be completely extinct since the year 317 E.R. when the last dragon was beaten marking the end of the great dragon hunt. Finally, many people venturing on the Valderian mountains were extensively explored in search of the death flute, but the flute was never found and if Asthan was there it would hardly be possible to ignore his presence.

Historical Basis

In 151 E.R. the seal imprisoning the nine supreme guardians was broken by the king of the dead. The supreme guardians, dominated by the dark matter, started to destabilize the world. In 153 E.R. strange events started to happen in Nastria, the corpses buried in the royal graveyard rised from the ground and attacked its inhabitants. In this occasion, Ettor of Nastria saved the royal family from the undead's attack and was praised for his efforts like a hero. Then, Ettor departed to discover what is causing those strange events and in the Valderian mountains he found the death flute. This discovery lead in a fierce battle against Asthan who was guarding the artifact. Ettor defeated the dragon, stole the flute and ran away from the mountains. The flute was then used by Ettor to revert the ressurrection of the undead.

Variations & Mutation

The myth can vary depending on the region where it is told. Some accounts, for example, say that Ettor defeated the dragon, but never actually killed him and took advantage the situation by stealing the death flute before the dragon could regain his strenght. So according to this version, the death flute is not on the mountains anymore and its actual position is unknown.
