Great Apothecary of Solquieto

The Great Apothecary of Solquieto is a pharmacy owned by the Zeroni family and exlusively operates in the kingdom of Pyretia. Gael Zeroni was the first apothecary to discover how to hybridize rare healing plants species in order to create more productive and easily cultivable varietes such as the Zeronium Mirabilis. Currently it holds countless secret recipes and discoveries for a wide range of medicines and drugs believed to be the only ones that can cure specific diseases.

Purpose / Function

Considered the largest pharmacy of the known world, its main function is the production and sale of drugs and medicines for healing a wide range of diseases, from simple malaises to more serious kind of illnesses. Although it is not a clinic, the apothecary can also host a limited amount of patients and take care of people on the spot.

History

The building started as a simple pharmacy like there were many anywhere else and was run by Gaels Zeroni, a notorius pharmacist in Solquieto. Originally the building contained a small counter for selling drugs and medical plants and a tiny laboratory for researching and experimentation.
With the development of the kingdom of Pyretia and it's expansion into the northern territories, more ressources became accessible. The climate of Pyretia was very diverse and varied depending on the location and season. Some areas had a very unique environment that hosted many kind of rare and unique plants. Many of these plants were found to have special healing effects. Apothecaries took special interest in those areas and sought a way to domesticate these plants in order to have a consistent production of medicines coming from these plants.
Eventually, Gaels Zeroni, who made a lot of studies and research on these medical plants, was the first to create an hybrid species, then named Zeronium Mirabilis, that was easier to cultivate and kept the same outstanding healing effects of some of these plants. This revolutionary discovery led Gaels and his family to discover more hybridization possibilities and build a great fortune.
The building was then expanded to contain various infrastructures: two warehouses, one for raw materials and plants destined for drug and medicine production and one for the finished products ready to be sold; more functional laboratories and workshops to increase the quantity and quality of production while developing new ways for healing people; a bigger shop made to satisfy the growing number of customers and small rooms to host patients. Also, more employees were hired as the family alone could not keep up to the increasing demand of medicaments.
The increased success of the Great Apothecary of Solquieto, inspired other apothecaries to emulate the same model in hope to enrich themselves, some even tried to falsify medicines by falsely claiming that they were made with rare plants such as the Zeronium Mirabilis and other species that can be exclusively accessed and used by Zeroni's family, raising serious concerns for the population.

Tourism

Because the apothecary produces unique medicines not available elsewhere, many people gather to Solquieto with the sole purpose of finding and buying these miracolous products.
