Stay clear of that one, nobody likes him and associating with him will likely see your standing plummet— Edward Neally talking about Nathaniel
Pariah and outcast, Nathaniel Bordruff was once a respected member of
Prince Lodin's court. The
Nosferatu had a penchant for violence and reveled in the murder of fellow Kindred. Lodin used this desire to his advantage, sicking Bordruff on any suspected
Anarch or target that needed to be eliminated. Bordruff was the hammer of Lodin's court, though not an official title by any means - his position and success in dealing with the
Camarilla undesirables made Bordruff practically untouchable.
His ability at killing Kindred is rumoured to have originated from his mortal life where he was once an operative of the
Inquistion, specifically the Society of St Leopald. Bordruff has done little to dissuade such rumours, in fact, some Kindred claim he revels in the rumours and reputation. Bordruff's supposed connection to the Society of St Leopald also explains Bordruff's faith. The dammed rarely like to admit it, but belief in religious ideology is surprisingly not as uncommon as one may first assume. The
Lasombra in particular are very faith driven and oriented. Bordruff has been seen at the occasional church within Chicago during his time in the city. All of these rumours further isolate Bordruff from the rest of Kindred society, a fact that Bordruff seems to care little about.
After Lodin's demise in 1993, Bordruff found himself exposed. His already small circle of contacts and confidants shrunk to be basically non-existent. After failing to vye for positions within the court, Bordruff was forced to defect to the
Anarch movement, but Bordruff may as well be unbound as few Anarchs wish to associate him. Largely this is due to his past of killing Anarchs under Lodin's name, while some choose to believe the rumours circulating his mortal life.
Though the rumours have died down over the decades, they have begun to flare back up. A preacher, Reverend Dr. Jefferson Taylor, in the South Side of Chicago is growing quite a following, though keen eared Kindred have noticed the preacher's very pointed and on-the-nose rhetoric is obviously pointed towards Kindred. This on its own wouldn't be much to write home about, but few Kindred have noted that phrases the preacher use and cadence is eerily similar to how Bordruff presents himself in Elysium. This has started the rumour mill up once more, though this time, Bordruff has nobody to protect him and Bordruff has a long list of enemies. In particular
Charles "Crook" Dawson has been putting pressure on Bordruff, seems as if Crook has an axe to grind with Bordruff.
