Masterwork Forge Settlement in Witch's Peak Campaign | World Anvil

Masterwork Forge

Demographics

The masterwork forge is predominately inhabited by the dwarven folk.

Government

The Masterwork Forge is governed by a council of masters. Each master has crafted a master work piece of art, machinery, or structure, within the past 10 years in order to hold a seat at the council. Many of the masters within the Masterwork Forge do not actively participate in the governance of the town, but rather focus on building their next masterpiece, only tending to governmental affairs when something goes dangerously wrong.

Infrastructure

The town is plastered with forges. Some of them brand new and state of the art. Others are ancient with detailed carvings and ancient rune inscriptions that are barely legible to the populace living there now. Deep craftwork magics have seeped into the land, making many of the objects there more alive than is usual. Usually only manifesting as trouble that just happens when you displease the objects you live with, but sometimes it can go so far as objects moving themselves around buildings (always when nobody is watching).   The biggest thing available to the Masterwork forge, however, is an underground highway that stretches from the town to the city of Sidgard bellow the archipelago sea. This is the central trade conduit used by the dwarves to move their goods from the forge town to the mainland of Ethilia, and to get the rare resources they need from Ethilia back to the forge.

Geography

The town is set into a steep mountain side. Two roads wind their way up the mountain to the top, where a fortress overlooks the surrounding area. Nearly impenetrable the fortress has weathered untold hundreds of years of attacks by dragons, invading armies, and on occasion armies of man.   As you progress up the twin roads from the base of the mountain the types of buildings, be them forges, workshops, or masonries, the quality of value of them increase. Just bellow the fortress is the most precious structures. Owned and operated by the masters of the town, the objects created within are often extremely magical and of a quality unseen by most people.
