Estmerian War Chariot

Chariots were a common staple of the southern battlefields of the old empire. Being used extensively by skirmishing units and officers of the old empire to harass enemy units and break up enemy cavalry charges. While less of a common sight in the battlefields of the north they still were employed. Estmerian troops that had been deployed to the south saw the effectiveness of the chariots and brought them back with them to the north spreading the knowledge of them and starting to develop new techniques to employ them in the rugged northern terrain.   Chariots in the north are used almost exclusively by officers in the north. Used to quickly move officers across the battlefield while keeping their magical artifacts on hand. Beyond that it is most often employed only in training as chariots are effective at portraying larger cavalry forces to create a more realistic combat scenarios.   The skirmish chariot riders have been used to great effect in one particular conflict against the orcs in the southern mountains. They have used them to travel great distances keeping all of the necessary supplies in their chariots. They have kept the orc raiding parties to a minimum in the Estermian lands along the coast. While they have largely lost the ability to utilize the great fields near the mountains this has been a small price to pay for maintaining control of the coast.   The Seaxe and ancient Wilscan communities have never adopted the use of chariots. The Seaxe being a primarily sea based people they have never had a reason to develop war weapons for purely land engagements. The Wilscan are use to a level of wilderness that is prohibitive to chariot usage in most places. They prefer to stay in the forested parts of the world, or those areas that are too rocky or rough for quick travel by wheeled vehicle.
