Session XXXIII: End of the line Report
General Summary
After just shy of a year away from the campaign we return to our four adventurers standing within the heart of the Ashen Grove, surrounded by slain gnolls. After a brief discussion it was agreed upon that they could not stay there any longer. They needed to place some distance between them an the slain corpses.
As they were fleeing, however, they were ambushed by a pack of gnolls who's sole focus was to rob them. Two havoc runners intercepted the team whilst a black guard volleyed arrows at them. The group was quick to react and took the fight to the ambushers - however that allowed one of them to break into the wagon and make off with a dagger and set of fine clothes from Freya and a tool kit from Arkeshia.
With the robbers successful they fled the scene and allowed the group to carry on. They found a comfortable cave to nestle within for the evening and took the time to nurse their wounds and discuss what had happened. When Arkeshia and Kethra were set to guard, a very un-welcomed entity had moved into the area. Quick to cover their presence Arkeshia summoned a rock wall at the mouth of the cave with a peep hole to view the environment. With her Devil Sight she witnessed something unnatural and almost lost a bit of her sanity - however she was able to hold on.
With the rest over the wall dropped, the entity gone, and the sky and moon were... back to normal. Save for the unnatural webs that now seemed barely visible within the sky. The returned sky seemed to unnerve the group the most. The world was mostly back to normal - except it wasn't.
Moving along the group was set upon by Aidi in her true form to thank them for handling the blight of Ashen Grove and allow her to expand the Emerald Grove further. She inquired if the group wished to keep their binds to her, renegotiate, or sever them. They opted to sever them and the three who were under her binds promptly threw up. Aidi departed as the group ventured into the Crystalsands Tundra stating that was someone else's territory, although never elaborating whos.
Within the Crystalsands, the trek was miserable. The weather was foul and the temperature colder than their previous trek through (in the heart of summer). They set up camp near some large sand hills to try and block the wind and when Arkeshia and Freya were set to watch for the night a sandstorm moved in. Visibility was almost nonexistent. It was then that they were surrounded by eight humanoids with a ninth moving forward demanding to see their sister, Kethra Tathisar.
