Early Childhood
As a child, Gothric was described as cheerful and easy of smiles, as he always showed a friendly and loving disposition. And he even showed a fancy for poetry and music. And this was a talent that his father happily obliged. Because of this, he was known as "The Little Joy in the North" while growing up.
Adulthood As soon as he came of age, an alliance of Bronze clans and Wolf clans united to exile the Warvick family once and for all. This led to the battle in the snow of 1391. A battle that Gothric took part in along with his brothers. However, the battle would end up being a resounding defeat for the royalist, who lost half their men, and even Gothric himself would be lost in the snow for days, while his brothers were slained in combat or as they routed. However, it is said that a fisherman eventually found the prince, and helped nurse him back to health. He would not be untouched by this brush with death, however, as he lost fingers and his face was scarred by frostbite. And he would also contract the sickness of the cold, starting with his left hand as it became black and stiff. This is what earned him the name of "Iron Hand." However, physical injury were not the only thing, as they said that the man who they digged out of the snow wasn't the same Gothric. He would never again smile or laugh. But he did came back with a cold fury, almost like a revenant, to avenge his brothers. Some even say that the spirit of Aethal himself entered his body while he was in the snow. Whatever the case, Gothric would go on to rally the remaining forces and break those of the clans who invaded the Hearthstone.
For the next twenty years, Gothric would go on to stitch back together the realm of Aethal, even as the cold continued to claim the rest of his arm
