The Language of the Dwarves

Dwarven, the guttoral and sharp language of the Dwarves. Called Dethek in their own language, it is the most common language spoken in the Underdark besides Undercommon.

Writing System

Dwarven has an alphabet of 24 runes, equating to the Common alphabet except for w, x, and z, which share a rune.

Geographical Distribution

Found in various places on the surface where there are entrances to Dwarfhall, and spoken by surface dwarves. It is most common in the Underdark, where it is spoken as the second-most-common language behind Undercommon.

Phonology

Dwarven is a guttoral and sharp language, that follows similar phonetics to real-world German.
