Tolta Coronar

Summary

Celebrated every leap year, the Tolta Coronar is the most important secular Elvish holiday. The holiday celebrates endings and beginnings and is seen as the best time to make radical changes in your life. It began due to the Blessing of Corellon, or the Elves' ability to change their sex. The average Elf can only use this ability every seven or so years, and over time, the tradition of doing so with your spouse or friends on the leap day arose. Over time, the holiday has taken on additional significance as a celebration of adulthood, as the Blessing of Corellon can only be invoked by Elves when they reach adulthood except in rare cases. Due to this association, Tolta is also when new marriages and divorces become officially recognized. Additionally, it is seen as especially unlucky to be born on Tolta Coronar, so couples take significant precautions to ensure that this does not occur.
