PW13 - Successful Viet-Conging

General Summary

The party began their long-anticipated attack on the enemy fort.

Bonfires

The party triangulated the location of the enemy fort using three bonfires, each with their own smoke signal pattern. Tikvah stayed behind to scry while the rest of the party ventured into the woods. Louis and Tana ran into two deserters from the Deviltongue Brutes. One was an injured officer who clearly had a crush on his companion. From them, Louis learned that the enemy fort was surrounded on all sides by water deep enough that you'd have to swim through it.

The Fort

Pemma reminded everyone of the structure's description. She said that the fort is made of wood, including 16 thick bundles of tree trunks that keep it well above the water. Its floor plan is an elongated hexagon. The outer walls are dotted with arrow slits and the floors sport numerous murder holes. Inside, there are a few chambers where the officers sleep and a central room that's open to the swamp below and contains a rift to Amavasya, the home plane of the Rakshasa. The only access to the fort is a ladder that can be withdrawn in the event of an attack.

The Plan

After Quon and Irani headed to the civilian camp, the group put their attack plan into action. Bloodletter and his hydra hunters found a hydra in the woods and drove it towards the fort. The Party took Zaluoh and Pemma with them and waited for the mercenaries to open an arcane gate to deal with the hydra. They snuck into the gate without much issue but emerged face-to-face with a Wastrilith.
