Black Book

The Black Book is a magical artifact of uncertain origin currently in the possession of Kasha Ambale.

History

After waking up in an icy temple in Erek, the party suffered from partial amnesia about the events of the past months. Slowly, their memories began to return to them. Many of these memories included the Black Book, implying a connection between the item and The Wanderer, the likely source of their amnesia. Memories included bringing the book to their former guild associate Nim Srzl, having the Spellbinder's Guild librarian Amadirion operate it, and the book being present on Az Boldfinger's desk the night he was kidnapped during the attack on The Grapevine.

Amadirion's Information

Though it appears like a book, the item cannot be read normally. Rather, the item is meant to produce moving illusory images when the groves on the pages are traced with gold-tipped styli. While this clearly requires som skill, that is not the only obstacle that needs to be overcome: According to Amadirion, no normal person has enough fingers to operate the book alone, as there are dozens of lines that must be traced simultaneously to produce the images.
