Military action

Mregia declares war on Rezakia.

Mregia declares war on Rezakia, a continent held hostage by seven powerful pirate lords.   The relatively young Mregian Empire didn't have the amount of ships that Rezakia had, so the first few years of the war was spent defending Nylicerts coasts from pirate attacks and raids. Luckily the Pirate lords of Rezakia had rivalries with each other, so a full on invasion of Nylicert didn't happen. Mregia had to be smart and fast if it wanted to win the war, so a new form of ship was needed. The diesel engine was recently invented, and was made to work in a small, fast, ship. 2 of these Sherwell naval tanks would made the first move against the Pirate scourge, by attacking an island off the coast that was being used to build ships. The Naval tanks were faster, and had rifled turrets that gave them a much greater range. Just a pair of ships managed to destroy the naval base and allow a landing force to take over the island.   With such a great success, more Naval tanks were ordered for production, as well as new, much bigger ship designs. Diesel engines still had major drawbacks, and couldn't be made very big yet, so most of the larger vessels used during the war were steam powered.   2905 - a major victory. The Mregian navy has been trying to break the blockade protecting the Keblych channel for a year, but can't break through. A captain commandeering an old Vernan cargo hauler, heavily armed and armoure, managed to break through the blockade, allowing other ships to follow and break it up.   2911 - A great assault on Rezakia is ordered.   2913 - The invasion is a massive undertaking, so the Empire refocuses it's efforts on hunting the Pirate lords that hold the real power over the continent.   2920 - The pirate lords were proving difficult to kill, but they were supressed enough to gain control of most of the continent, the war is declared over, but the hunt for pirates continues.
