Hyavind

All the current Hyavinds started out as lords of the first Mregian king, but soon they fought to become more independent, forming the ancient royal houses we know today.   A Hyavind is one step above a Vind, or lord, they are considered royalty, this extends to their descendants and immediate family. So the first child of a Hyavind becomes his heir, and so on, keeping the Royal house alive for generations. Unlike Lords, who only gain benefits for themselves, and have no heir.   Hyavinds may marry anyone they like, be it a commoner or (more likely) a Hyavind from another house. The two Hyavinds must decide which house they want to stay with, changing one of them to that house.   Hyavinds oversee vast Royal Territories. Regions under control of their house. They are responsible for these regions and the lords they appoint to look after smaller sections of it. Some Royal houses might not need lords, relying solely on different family members to oversee smaller slices of the territory, rather than one overseeing all of it.   A Sert'Hyavind is the head of a house, and controls all the territory his family owns, though indirectly. He can influence the other Hyavinds of the house to pass laws or follow his lead during war. A Sert'Hyavinds wealth is second only to the Monarch.
